Our Story
Founded by Suppiah Muthusamy, Suppiah & Partners has its roots in humble beginnings. Over the years, it grew a team of lawyers across areas like AI & emerging tech, property, litigation, insurance claims, and estate administration, built on a foundation of integrity, ethical service, and client trust.
Suppiah’s journey from enforcement officer to lawyer – earning his law degree at 46 – speaks to his perseverance and commitment. After retiring from government service in 2000, he pivoted to law, bringing decades of experience in consumer protection and public service into his own forward-looking practice.

Meet the Team
Founding Partner
Suppiah Muthusamy
Before becoming a lawyer, Suppiah built a career in public service spanning 25 years with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs — serving in various capacities including as Director of the Enforcement Division in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, before a final posting in Kuala Lumpur. It was during this period that he pursued his law degree from the University of Wolverhampton (1997) at the age of 49, followed by the Certificate of Legal Practice (1998).
His depth of experience in consumer law, developed during his years at the Ministry, led to his appointment as an ad hoc Judge to the Tribunal for Consumer Claims from 2005 to 2014 — a recognition of the integrity and professional standing he had established across both his public service and legal careers.
Having founded Suppiah & Partners, his practice spans the full range of conveyancing and property law matters, including the drafting and vetting of Sale and Purchase Agreements, tenancy agreements, loan agreements, settlements, deeds of trust, powers of attorney, and third-party insurance claims.
Managing Partner
Thulasy Suppiah
A lawyer with a combination of technical and legal expertise, Thulasy brings to her practice a background in computer engineering, enterprise technology consulting, and civil litigation that few lawyers in Malaysia can match.
Thulasy graduated in computer engineering before pursuing a career in law. She read for her Bachelor of Laws while working as an Oracle Consultant, managing business development across Southeast Asia, before completing the Bar Professional Training Course.
Her practice at Suppiah and Partners focuses on construction and engineering disputes, advisory and dispute resolution work, and general civil litigation, industrial relations disputes, and company and commercial advisory matters — including bankruptcy and winding-up proceedings. She acts for a range of clients from domestic companies to international multinationals, and handles matters across court litigation, adjudication, and arbitration.

From Kuala Lumpur, start on Jalan Raja Laut and head toward Jalan Kuching (Utara). Continue straight along Jalan Kuching and take the exit toward Jalan Tun Razak.
