This Privacy Policy governs how Suppiah & Partners (“we, our Firm”) collect, store and handle Personal Data(as defined below) of individuals in accordance to Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (“PDPA”).

This Privacy Policy will help you understand how we use the Personal data we may collect from you. By providing your Personal data to us, you are consenting to this Privacy Policy and the collection, use, access, transfer, storage and processing of your Personal Data as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent to the collection and/or processing by our Firm of your Personal Data for purposes we deem appropriate, we may not be able to provide the legal services required of us or to consider you for employment opportunities. HOW DO WE USE AND STORE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?

We may collect and use Personal Data from you or from third parties identified in this Privacy Policy, for many purposes, including, to provide our legal services to our clients and/our yourselves, to assess and process our appointment as your or your employer/company’s solicitor, to contact you for billing purposes (including to facilitate payments and collect debts), to resolve any issues, queries, complaints or other enquiries that you or your employer/company submit to us our legal services, to keep in contact with you and provide you with any information you request or information we feel may be helpful to you, to establish and better manage any business relationship we may have with you, to comply with legal and regulatory requirements and to consider you for possible employment with our Firm. Our Firm adopts strict standards and policies in keeping Personal Data secure.

DO WE DISCLOSE YOUR PERSONAL DATA TO ANYONE ELSE?

As a part of our legal services to our clients, we may be required or need to disclose information about you to third parties such as our clients who appoint us to carry out legal services which involves your Personal Data, law enforcement agencies (such as the Securities Commission, Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad, Companies Commission of Malaysia), companies and/or organisations that assist us in processing and/or otherwise fulfilling transactions and providing you or our clients with legal services, our business associates and other parties for purposes that are related to our purpose of collecting and using your Personal Data, subject at all times to any laws (including regulations, guidelines and/or by-laws) applicable to our Firm.

MARKETING

We may use your Personal Data to provide you with our newsletters, greeting cards, legal updates and information about our and third party services, which we feel may be of interest to or benefit you, unless you inform us otherwise in writing. YOUR RIGHT TO ACCESS AND CORRECT

If you wish to have access to your Personal Data in our custody, or where you are of the opinion that such Personal Data held by us is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or not up-to-date, you may make a request to us by contacting us at the contact details provided below. You should quote your name, address and phone/account number and provide brief details of the information you want a copy of in any such request, and we will charge you a nominal processing fee permitted by the law to help us defray administration costs.

However, we may have to withhold access to your Personal Data in certain situations, for example when we are unable to confirm your identity or where information requested for is of a confidential commercial nature or in the event, we receive repeated requests for the same information. Nevertheless, we will notify you in writing the reasons for not being able to accede to your request.

ADAKAH KAMI MENDEDAHKAN DATA PERIBADI ANDA KEPADA PIHAK LAIN?

Sebahagian daripada perkhidmatan guaman mungkin dikehendaki atau perlu mendedahkan maklumat anda kepada pihak ketiga seperti:

  • Pelanggan kami yang melantik kami untuk menjalankan perkhidmatan yang melibatkan Data Peribadi anda;
  • Agensi penguatkuasaan undang-undang (seperti Suruhanjaya Sekuriti, Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad, Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia);
  • Syarikat atau organisasi yang membantu kami memproses dan/atau memenuhi transaksi serta menyediakan perkhidmatan guaman;
  • Rakan perniagaan kami dan pihak lain berkaitan dengan tujuan pengumpulan dan penggunaan Data Peribadi anda;

Tertakluk kepada undang-undang dan peraturan yang berkenaan.

PEMASARAN

Kami mungkin menggunakan Data Peribadi anda untuk menghantar surat berita, kad ucapan, kemas kini undang-undang dan maklumat berkaitan perkhidmatan kami atau pihak ketiga yang mungkin menarik atau memberi manfaat kepada anda, melainkan anda memberitahu sebaliknya secara bertulis. Sekiranya anda tidak ingin menerima bahan-bahan ini, atau ingin menukar keputusan anda, sila hubungi kami melalui butiran di bawah. Arahan bertulis anda yang terkini akan diguna pakai.

HAK ANDA UNTUK MENGAKSES DAN MEMBETULKAN DATA PERIBADI

Sekiranya anda ingin mengakses Data Peribadi anda yang kami simpan, atau anda percaya bahawa Data Peribadi tersebut tidak tepat, tidak lengkap, mengelirukan atau tidak dikemas kini, anda boleh mengemukakan permintaan dengan menghubungi kami. Sila nyatakan nama, alamat dan nombor telefon/akaun serta butiran maklumat yang anda ingin akses. Kami berkemungkinan akan mengenakan caj nominal seperti yang dibenarkan dari undang-undang bagi tujuan pentadbiran.

Kami mungkin menolak permintaan akses jika kami tidak dapat mengesahkan identiti anda atau sekiranya maklumat yang diminta bersifat sulit secara komersial atau jika terdapat permintaan berulang terhadap maklumat yang sama. Sebagaimanapun, kami akan memaklumkan alasan penolakan secara bertulis.

APAKAH TANGGUNGJAWAB ANDA?

Anda bertanggungjawab untuk memberikan maklumat yang tepat dan lengkap mengenai diri anda dan mana-mana individu lain yang Data Peribadinya anda berikan kepada kami, serta mengemas kini maklumat tersebut jika terdapat perubahan dengan menghubungi Pegawai Pematuhan PDPA kami. Kewajipan ini adalah syarat kepada pemberian perkhidmatan guaman atau permohonan pekerjaan anda.

Jika anda memberikan Data Peribadi pihak ketiga (contohnya pasangan, anak-anak, atau anda bertindak bagi pihak organisasi), anda mengesahkan bahawa anda telah:
(i) Mendapatkan kebenaran individu berkenaan atau dibenarkan secara sah untuk memberikan Data Peribadi tersebut kepada kami; dan
