THULASY SUPPIAH

Thulasy is a computer engineering graduate from the National University of Singapore, who later opted for a career in law.
From 2007 to 2012, Thulasy worked as an Oracle Consultant, where she project managed solutions implementations and business development strategies in emerging economies in South-East Asia, while overseeing training opportunities in Greater Asia.
This background as an engineer as well as solutions consultant in Oracle technology, tech infrastructure and commercial strategies, enables her to handle commercial, technical and business matters in the legal arena with critical and analytical insight.
Gritty and determined, Thulasy studied for her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London (2008-2012), while still working in Oracle.
She then completed the Bar Professional Training Course at Cardiff University, gaining admission as a Barrister-at-Law of Lincoln’s Inn, London in 2013.
Thulasy was admitted to the High Court of Malaya in 2014. Her early legal training under noted senior practitioners, was grounded in civil litigation work, particularly in construction disputes and intellectual property rights.
Thulasy joined the LAW OFFICE OF SUPPIAH in March 2021, where she focuses primarily on advisory and dispute resolution works involving contracts and claims in the construction and engineering industry as well as general civil disputes.
In the course of her career, Thulasy has also been involved in industrial relations disputes, company/commercial advisory work; and handled bankruptcy and winding-up proceedings for her clients. She has dealt with a variety of clients, including domestic companies and international multinationals.
Apart from handling court-litigation, Thulasy has been and continues to be involved in adjudication and arbitration matters.
Passion Work
In 2015, Thulasy became a member of the Association of Women Lawyers (AWL). Later, she would be a part of its Exco (2017 – 2019) volunteering her time between pro bono initiatives, including watching briefs for survivors in matters involving criminal charges for child sexual abuse, and participating in dialogues and round-table discussions on women’s rights issues.
Thulasy has been an active committee member of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee (KLBC) since 2021. A passionate advocate of diversity and inclusivity (D&I) and opposed to bullying and harassment in the legal profession, she became a member of the KLBC Gender Equality & Diversity Committee (GEDC) in 2018. As Chairperson of the GEDC, since 2021, she has led many bold initiatives curated at raising awareness and cultivating knowledge repositories on issues such as sexual harassment and bullying in the legal profession; discrimination and bias(es) faced by women; and highlighting the rights of underrepresented, minority communities such as the Orang Asli/Asal and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Since 2021, she has also been involved in the Diversity & Inclusivity monthly talks to Pupils in chambers where she has focused efforts on educating them on the subject of unconscious bias, prejudice and discrimination in the workplace.
